Hello
I am using the free cloud hosted solution for our non-profit baseball organization. We have 5 employees in the system and have been testing with one individual and validating with my 'by hand' processing.
Last week's payroll was off by just a bit of change. Looking at the pay stub I found the discrepancy to be around the state (Ohio) tax calculation.
I have a married guy with 5 allowances
His gross pay was $304
For Ohio Tax:
Manual calculations come out to $3.15
TimeTrex is showing $2.82
I'd love to know if anyone could help shine some light on this. If the system works we'll implement it (timeclock) fully and it would make my life, especially as a volunteer, a heck of a lot easier.
Eddie
State Tax Calculation - issue?
Re: State Tax Calculation - issue?
Please describe in detail your manual calculations.
Re: State Tax Calculation - issue?
Payroll for us is weekly.
"calculation" isn't really the right term - it's more of a look-up.
I go here: http://www.tax.ohio.gov/Portals/0/emplo ... 062014.pdf
On that sheet I find his pay amount ($304) and then pull his withholding based on his allowances (5). That gives me $3.15
I have 5 allowances for state entered for this individual but his pay stub shows state tax at $2.82
thanks

Re: State Tax Calculation - issue?
Tax tables are not an accurate account of the tax amount, they are simply an estimate based on an income range, depending on where the income falls within the range the amount could be high or low.
TimeTrex uses the exact tax formula to get more accurate tax amounts instead.
