Slow Processing

Post by macbeth »

Hi! Is there any reason why my timetrex would be slow? The "Processing" window stays in focus a very long time before we can actually do anything in timetrex.

The most common cause for significant slow down is a virus scanner or adware scanner installed that scans running applications. Do you have anything like that installed on the computer that TimeTrex is installed on?

yes, antivirus. I'll exclude Timetrex from realtime scans and see if that helps, thanks

Yes, I would start there. We have seen virus scanners cause a 100x slowdown in TimeTrex's performance.

Keep in mind TimeTrex is a Enterprise Class application designed to be installed on a dedicated server where virus scanners are rarely if ever installed for this exact reason.

Well, I think it may have made a slight difference, but still very slow. Anything else I can check? Thanks again!

Have you tried temporarily turning off your virus scanner completely to see if that makes a difference?

When was the last time you downloaded the TimeTrex .EXE installer and ran it?

You may want to download the .EXE installer for the latest version of TimeTrex then and try installing it over top of your existing TimeTrex directory (that will perform an upgrade, keeping all your data intact). That installer contains updated versions of the "stack" (web server, PHP and database server) that should improve performance over any older versions.
