Windows GUI program

Post by ncepeda »

A GUI windows-based application which offers administrators to quickly and easily enter information (such a time) without using the web-based application (unless they choose to when away from the office).

Is this something that might ever be a possibility?

If I understood what you mean, what's the point of a GUI windows-based app when you can fire up Firefox or Google Chrome or Internet Explorer to achieve your task?

TimeTrex v5.0 will be a Rich Internet Application (RIA) which is essentially a hybrid web/desktop application that will be much faster in all aspects of data entry and usability. Its due to start public beta testing in the next few weeks.

Ok, it is public, I am excited to test it right-away.

Shaunw, when you say hybrid web/desktop application you mean like the Zimbra Desktop client?

Less desktop application than that, its a flash application so there is nothing to install. But it still has features that you expect from a desktop application like drag & drop, etc...

You mean the RIA that was based on Adobe's Flash? I'm confused. TimeTrex 1 to 3.x was based on the PHP language, how can TimeTrex going that route to Flash-based application?

The TimeTrex backend/server is still written in PHP, v5.0 will just have a Flash based front-end is all. So it can still be accessed with any normal web-browser, but it will have a much faster and more intuitive front-end interface.
