2X overtime triggered by start/end of workday rather than hours worked

I have the standard California overtime policies which were created by default upon installation, specifically:
  • CA - Daily >12hrs (2.0X)
  • CA - Daily >8hrs (1.5X)
  • CA - Weekly >40hrs (1.5X)
  • CA - 7th Consecutive Day (1.5X)
  • CA - 7th Consecutive Day >8hrs (2.0X)
  • US - Holiday (1.5X)
Our workweek starts on Monday. We have a case where an employee worked 8/hrs per day Monday-Saturday, and on Sunday they worked 6AM-10AM and 2PM-5PM for a total of 7 hours.

TimeTrex is calculating the pay for Sunday as 4 hours at 1.5X and 3 hours at 2.0X, rather than 7 hours at 1.5X as I expect.

Experimentation shows that the 3 hours of 2.0X overtime:
  • Is based on the excess of 8 hours from start-time to end-time on Sunday.
  • Occurs only if the Monday-Saturday work time is at least 40 hours.
Is this a bug, or am I failing to understand something here?

Can you please post a screenshot of the employees timesheet?

I have escalated this issue our developers to investigate further.

It does seem to be related to having multiple overlapping overtime policies combined with a non-paid lunch. In this case there are three overlapping policies:

Weekly > 40
After 7 Consecutive Days
After 7 Consecutive Days >8hrs

If you disable the last policy it will likely work as expected, for this case anyways.

Our developers have confirmed the issue, and it will be resolved in the next release of TimeTrex, likely due out in a week or two.

In the mean time, you may be able to use the work-around mentioned earlier.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, and if you are happy with TimeTrex, help motivate our volunteers to continue improving TimeTrex by leaving us a review: https://www.timetrex.com/community-reviews

Thanks for the prompt response @mikeb.

And, yes, I've just left a review.
