How feasible to run TimeTrex on shared hosting?

Post by cchan »

I'm trying to install timetrex on my webhosting plan. After the installation, I was prompt to fix 2 warnings:
1. edit the crontab to run "su www-data -c ...cron.php
2. configure the timezone of mysql server.

I ask my web hosting’s tech support, they said they don`t allow us to do both.
Then I ask a few other shared hosting and delicated server webhosting companies, all of them said they don`t allow to do (2).
My questions are:
a) is there a getaround for fixing (2)?
b) if no, can timetrex still run properly without fixing (2)?
Thank you.

Unfortunately running TimeTrex on most shared hosting providers will just not work, and if it does it often results in huge issues later on down the road. We constantly get customers coming to us after having lost data, been unable to upgrade TimeTrex because their hosting provider changed something, or just experiencing slow performance due to overloaded servers.

I would highly recommend going with our On-Demand service or a 100% dedicated server instead. It may cost a slight bit more but the quality of service is well worth it.
