First time login error

I have just finished installation but I cannot seem to login with the user I created during installation. If I type in bad info, it says, "incorrect input" -as it should. But when I type in the correct login info, it says in Chrome and IE:
Cannot find server or DNS Error (IE)
Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error. (Chrome)
Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks!

P.S.
This might not matter, but I have a shared server so I had to jerry-rig a few things to get everything to work. 1) All the requirements are met except the memory requirement. I could only get 80MB, not 128; 2) Linux cronjob has not been setup yet, 3) I couldn't access c:\timetrex or anything outside of my webroot portion on the server, so in timetrex.ini.php I had to have the cache, log and storage directory be within the timetrex directory in the webroot.
