Federal Income Tax is not calculating on pay stubs.

Post by cmcgrath »

I am using the hosted version of time trex and for some reason on the employee pay stubs no federal withholding is displaying for any employee. Most of the employees should have money being withheld for federal taxes. For some reason the stubs are showing two deductions for medicare though, it seems as though the employer and employee deductions are showing on the stubs for medicare. Also, is there a way for the hosted timetrex to display employer deductions on the stubs like the old on site version used to?

Do you have employees assigned to the the Federal Income Tax Tax/Deduction? What pay stub account is included in the Federal Income Tax/Deduction?

Yes they are assigned the federal tax deduction. After exiting the program and restarting it, it appears to be applying properly however the employee seems to have a double medicare deduction. Also, is there a way to have the employer deductions print on the pay stubs as well?

When you say double medicare deduction, can you post a screenshot showing what you mean?

Employer deductions be displayed on pay stubs if you use the Pay Stub Summary report and click the "Employer Pay Stubs" icon.

As you can see in the screen shot the employee has two medicare deductions on her pay stub. Shouldn't one of these deductions be an employer deduction and not deducted from the employees gross pay. This appears to be happening on all of the employees paystubs, however when I process the stubs using the onsite version it does not occur.

If you go to Payroll -> Tax /Deductions, you will see two Medicare records there, one for employee and one for employer. If you edit the Employer one, the Pay Stub Account that is selected may be the Earning Medicare account instead of the Employer Deduction - Medicare account. If you correct this and generate pay stubs again it should work for you.
