The Schedule View versus the TimeSheet View

I noticed that when a user is approved a vacation, Holiday, sick etc the Timesheet view has notations such as Approved. But no changes are made to the Schedule View (not updated). Is this by design or am I missing something?

In the Community Edition requests are just messages, so its up to the supervisor to perform whatever action is requested prior to authorizing the request.

The Professional Edition has more automation around this though.
