Federal Tax

what is the percentage of the federal tax taken out? its a little
different then a program i used before.

Federal tax isn't a flat percentage, its a complicated formula. If you are seeing differences from another program that are not minor (ie: more than dollar or two), then its likely due to differences in what you have specified for the W4 settings. (ie: martial status, multiple jobs, etc...)
