Variable backup location

Post by noamparn »

I know that I can edit the "backup_database.bat" file, to change the backup location (I dump my backups to c:\timetrex\backup, for example), but it reverts back to the default every time I upgrade.
It would be nice if there were a way to control that inside the interface (or in a config file), so it would remember the setting through the upgrade process.

This is unlikely to happen anytime soon, in v3.0 of TimeTrex there are maintenance jobs that help keep a limited number of backups to keep disk usage from spiraling out of control too, and having .bat files parse the main timetrex.ini.php file is not really practical, nor is having a separate file with just one backup setting in it.

The reality is that with v3.0 of TimeTrex you should just simply backup the entire TimeTrex directory to another computer/device and use your backup software to keep enough history. There shouldn't be any need to stop/start services, or even manually delete old backup files anymore.
