PHP CGI Mode detected...

Post by Raz_L »

Hey everyone,

I'm going to start off by saying that I am fairly new to PHP, SQL etc, but I'd like to consider myself to be a quick learner ;)

I'm having problems installing TimeTrex onto my server. My site is hosted on the Netfirms "Plus" Package.

I've followed the installation readme to the letter but when I go to the install.php I get the following error message:
PHP CGI mode detected. TimeTrex requires PHP to be built as a module for your web server in order to run correctly.
I'm assuming that means that I can't use this program, if that's the case, then I'm gutted lol! But I thought I'd double check.

Details of my host are below...
  • PHP Version 5.0.5
    System: FreeBSD cgi0 4.10-RELEASE-p21 FreeBSD 4.10-RELEASE-p21 #0: Tu i386
    Server API: CGI
I'd appreciate any advice anyone could give!

Cheers

TimeTrex won't run on hosting providers that just offer PHP in CGI mode. Contact your provider and see if they can offer you PHP as a module instead.

Hi ShaunW!

I checked with Netfirms. For anyone else with Netfirms, here's what they said.
At the moment, we do not offer PHP as a module. It has been added to our list of client requested features and may be included in a future service upgrade. Thank-you for your suggestion.
Anyone optimistic?

So looks like no TimeTrex then :(
Thanks for your help though shaunw, looking around the forum, I can see I aint the only one who has benefited from your help!

Have fun!
