Changing "work" and "home" to "primary" and "secondary"

How can I change the designations of a "work" and "alternate" email to "primary" and "secondary"?

Similarly, how can I change phone numbers to be "primary" and "secondary"?

The goal is that the employee will put the appropriate email and phone number in their profile screen so that the primary email and phone display on the User Administration screen. The default categories of "work" and "home" lead to unexpected and unreliable results when not all employees have work email accounts, and many of them have home phones that are certainly not their primary phone.
