TimeTrex upgrade from EOL version

Post by jordanpritchard »

Hi,

The company I am the IT Manager for is using a very old version of TimeTrex Community Edition (10.7.0). The server TimeTrex is installed on was pretty much ignored for years, and I am keen to figure out a way to get to current TimeTrex version.

I'm not sure how to accomplish this as I can't do a stepped upgrade since TimeTrex doesn't provide any older versions of the software, and I haven't been able to find any information online about how to successfully get TimeTrex data exported from old version and imported into new, current version.

I've considered just installing a clean build of current TimeTrex, but without being able to import user data and passwords, I don't see that as a practical approach.

Any ideas out there in the community on how to work around this situation and get to a point where my company can keep using TimeTrex and end up with our data at a point where we could migrate into the paid TimeTrex cloud version? I contacted TimeTrex sales but they replied that there wasn't anything they could do.

Appreciate any insight and suggestions!

Re: Step 5, can you clarify this? "Install a fresh copy of TimeTrex on PostgreSQL, make sure it matches the version currently installed and running on MySQL."

Does this mean that after upgrading to TimeTrex 11.0 community edition and completing the previous steps 1-4, I then need to download most current TimeTrex version and follow the normal installation instructions as if I were doing a clean first time install? Thank you for sharing that link!

You install a fresh copy of TimeTrex v11.0 using PostgreSQL, the same version of TimeTrex you are using on MySQL in which you want to migrate.
