Defining shifts

I have some employees who work both day and night shifts, meaning it's possible to work the full day shift hours and then take the night shift.

How do I setup TimeTrex to handle this?

I have tried consulting the admin guide and using schedules but I am new to the software and I haven't been successful.

I'm not sure I understand your question.

Employees are able to punch in/out anytime they like with TimeTrex, morning, afternoon or night.

Specifically, what is TimeTrex doing or not doing that you would like it to?
