Community Edition Discontinued

As of October 1, 2024, we will be discontinuing the Free Open Source Software (FOSS) On-Site Community Edition of TimeTrex Workforce Management. While the current version will continue to work, it will no longer receive updates or security patches. Over the following 30 days, ancillary services like email relaying, push notifications, and downloads of the latest version will also be gradually phased out.

Several key factors have influenced this decision:
  • Changes in Software Consumption: The software market has evolved, with cloud-based solutions becoming the preferred choice due to their convenience and flexibility. Customers increasingly favor cloud-hosted applications over traditional on-site deployments. Additionally, software purchasing decisions are now often made by business leaders rather than IT departments, leading to a reduced demand for open-source software at this level of the technology stack.
  • Focus on Commercial Relationships: We are concentrating our efforts on enhancing the relationships with our commercial clients. By investing in our paid solutions, we aim to provide more specialized and comprehensive features for scheduling, time tracking, payroll, and HR management—areas where open-source solutions no longer provide a distinct advantage.
While the free Community Edition will no longer be available, commercial editions will continue to have full access to the source code and the ability to contribute to its development.
