We want to move TimeTrex from one server to another. (Ubuntu 8.04 to Ubuntu 8.04)
These are the steps I think I would follow:
x. disconnect the timeclock from the network to prevent any errant punches from registering to the old system.
1. backup the database
2. backup the timetrex folder (/var/www/timetrex)
3. shutdown the old server (to prevent any accidental communication from the old server).
4. install timetrex on the new server (the same version as was on the old timetrex server)
once all is configured and working:
5. restore the timetrex folder from the old server to the new server (/var/www/timetrex)
6. restore the mysql database
x. reconnect the timeclock and verify that punches are registering
Is this the best way to move it to the new server? The steps I am proposing to follow allow for an abort mission and continue using the old server if needed.
Thoughts?
