Question about setup

Post by jschulze »

Hello,

We are currently evaluating Timetrex to replace our abandoned Attendview installation. Timetrex looks to have all that we need and more, except for one problem. We have a machine set up currently as our 'timeclock' machine, and under attendview, there is a single screen where each employee can type in a code and clock in, or change jobs quickly. It also allows for a quick over-view of who is clocked in at any given time, which is important for us.

I am trying to find such a screen in Timetrex, or at least something to allow our employees to quickly and easily clock in and out without having to enter login information for each person. (way to time consuming and confusing for some of our employees.) We are looking at the different hardware solutions you provide, but those each have inherient problems for us (mostly we switch job codes (departments) alot and i don't see the key fobs or stand alone timeclock allowing that.)

Hope this exists somewhere, I would like to adopt timetrex for our tracking needs!

TimeTrex does this with its "Client Application" that comes with the Business Edition or Professional Editions.

Most of our hardware devices are ideal for job costing or punching in/out often. Especially the barcode solution if you have many jobs/tasks that employees need to punch in/out of, that way they don't need to remember codes and type them in, they can simply scan barcodes.

Of course you don't need to use barcodes to use the job costing functionality, you can use other hardware devices and have the employees select the jobs from a dropdown box, or type in the code itself.

Our Professional Edition includes the job costing module which allows you to define jobs/tasks along with all sorts of other information so you don't have to abuse the department field as such.

Shaun,

Thank you for that information; Pro sounds adequate for our needs, and the options are quite versatile where hardware is concerned. Our current solution uses user code > drop down menu for jobs to switch. The main complaint we have (and will apparently never be fixed, as Attendview has released no updates for over a year now.) is that we can not see what job we are currently logged into; sometimes people just forget that they are clocked into a job, and/or if they even did. I don't suppose there is a way to look at this client app is there to see how it operates?

If you contact our sales department they can setup a demo to show you. But it essentially operates like the web interface, the Client punch window looks almost identical to the "Punch In/Out" page on the TimeTrex web interface.

In the case of job costing, when an employee punches in/out TimeTrex defaults the job to the last job they selected, so the employee knows if they selected a job in the last punch or not, and which job it was.

As well, the employee can switch the job at either the In punch or the Out punch. So if they punch in and selected the wrong job, when they punch out, they can change it at that point for both their In and Out punch in a single operation.

Also when employees switch from one job to another they can use the "Transfer" button, which automatically punches them out of the last job and into the new job in a single operation. This way they don't need to remember the last job code and they don't need to punch out of the previous job and into the next job in two operations. They can do it efficiently in a single operation.

We currently have clients with several hundred employees that punch in/out of a different job on average every 5-10 minutes, which equates to about 100 punches per day per employee. Its been working extremely well for them.
