Does anyone know what the 'mass punches' function is for?

Its for adding many punches all at once.

Typically this can be used by a supervisor for punching several employees in/out for a meeting or something, or in other special cases. Also for adding in historical information, or any other reason that you see fit.

would i be correct in assuming this would be the preferred method for "catching up" as it were once my test phase is over? i can add pay periods for the month of january, mass punch in/out each employee ( including the 1 hr for lunch ) and thus my accrual policies for vacation/personal days would then reflect the correct time accumulated? i have only experimented with one test user and it does seem to be working. i just need to get the correct dates for the pay periods-we are bi-weekly with time being submitted to a 3rd party payroll processor the monday after the period ends and with checks being issued two days later, on wed. thanx again for all the advice and help.

Yes, anytime you need to add/modify/delete punches on mass, this is the place to do it.
